Food Recalls: AI-Assisted Safety
Food recalls should reach people before contaminated food does.
I built a consumer app that pairs AI speed with human judgment to turn fragmented government warnings into safety alerts people can trust. It went viral, was featured on ABC and NBC, reached the Top 10, and crossed $100K ARR in year one.

The thesis
Critical food-safety information already existed. What was missing was a product that could make it understandable and useful at the moment people needed it.
The missing product layer
Recall notices were fragmented across agencies and written for regulatory completeness. Families needed clear answers: what product, where it was sold, who was at risk, and what to do next.
AI speed, human judgment
Food Recalls uses AI to make official notices easier to understand and act on, while keeping people in the loop for judgment and accountability. Clear summaries, product imagery, affected locations, alerts, and search turn raw notices into trusted decisions.
Distribution as product proof
The app went viral, reached the Top 10 of the US Food & Drink category, developed world-class retention, and became a subscription business trusted by more than 250,000 people. That momentum led to acquisition talks with the FDA.
